I had first read Unmaking Marchant as apart of a tour and found out that there was more to this series (Trilogy?) I had read the third book first and didn't miss a thing and really enjoyed the book so I decided to give reading Selling Scarlett a chance. This book was very different and not what I was expecting. I loved that Suri and Marchant had popped up a couple of times, it was wierd to hear about thier lives before they met each other. I liked that I got to see a sort of different side from the book I previously read. Well that goes to say these books are standalone so feel free to read it in any order.

Now on to this book's review,

You defiantly need to be open minded when it comes to this book, if I wasn't I would've closed this book a couple chapters into the book. There so much to love about this books and there were times that I didn't like something but that's okay. Some of the positives for me about this book that I loved the characters. I loved how loyal Libby/Elizabeth/Scarlett was she would do anything for her friends. But that's where one of the negatives for me too because how far would you go for a friend? I think she went too far. She was lucky to have it turned out the way it did. I think that she was very naive and put her self in a lot of situations that could get herself into trouble.

Things that didn't seem like much turned out to be clues to what would happen later on in this book. Like times where I thought this book was dragging and useless turned out to be what helped me understand what was going to happen in the future of the book. I loved that there was a lot of suspense and steam. I loved that there was a bit of mystery and that this book wasn't predictable at all. Overall I loved this a book and think you readers should check out this book. I look forward to seeing Cross's story! 4.5 of 5 stars!

Selling Scarlett A Love Inc Novel edition by Ella James Mae I Design Ami Johnson Romance eBooks Reviews

Selling Scarlett was like a psychotic snowball rolling down a hill - all awkward and unassuming at the beginning; easy to ignore, monochromatic white on white... Then to my surprise (and seemingly out of nowhere) it gained momentum. Unstoppable momentum. It rolled over everything in its path, leaving me wondering if that crappy little snowball at the beginning was really the precursor to the avalanche it became.

Alright, enough of the metaphors... This book was a lot of things... Or at least it tried to be a lot of things. It had several failings in my opinion, but once it hooked me (which took at least 1/4 of the book), I didn't put it down. I stayed up until 1am to finish it.

It had some glaring mistakes that could have been caught with the utilization of a competent editor, but they weren't too terribly distracting. In fact, I kind of got the impression that the first half of this book was written independently from the second...

In my experience with crime/thriller fiction, a proficient author will attempt to break up the tension every now and then, luring the reader into a false sense of safety before ratcheting up your anxiety once more. Generally this is accomplished through humor. Unfortunately, I found the humor in this book ridiculously, unbelievably, and unforgivably sophomoric in comparison to the subject matter.

After taking some time to think about this book, I believe the lack of humor (or any other periodic pallet cleanser to the plot line) is what killed the book for me. It caused the whole work to lack a necessary balance. If a reader can deal with political corruption, kidnapping, murder for hire, prostitution, blackmail, and selling women into sex slavery, I promise they can handle some dark or dry humor. It occurred to me that perhaps the author was attempting to use sexy situations to break up the tension... if that was the case, we'll need to add another failure to the list.

In addition to the problem with balance, there were way too many characters. Seriously. If a character is unimportant, and I don't need to remember them for the progression of the story - if I'm never going to see their names again, consider calling them "two former FBI agents, a security adviser, and a PI" instead of telling me that "Theodore and William were in the FBI together before starting a private firm with Christoper. Jonathan joined three years later with a chip on his shoulder..." (For the record that's not an actual quote form the book, just trying to make a point.) As I finished the book I noticed a big shiny advertisement for the next book in the series, and suddenly the hap-hazard character structure made sense - This book was a teaser for a series (which I did not realize when I downloaded it) so the author was just trying to set up a few names which will (in theory) be flushed out later in the series.
I was invited to read this book by the publishing company. With a packed schedule I wasn't sure if I could do it. But being the book whore that I am, I couldn't resist and did it. And am so glad I did. It was a great read.

“Sell in Scarlet” is the first book in the Love Inc. series. In the beginning you think you are going to read about a love triangle between Elizabeth, Hunter and Cross but it flips and you find out that you are really reading about Elizabeth DeVille and Hunter West.

This is a story with lots of twists and turns. It is told in the perspective of Elizabeth and Hunter. Hunter is a tortured hero who is being blackmailed for a crime he didn't commit but had little way of proving it. And Elizabeth "Lizzy/Libby/Scarlet" is a young 23 year old v-card holder who has suffered from having a messed up family life. The characteristic I most liked about Lizzy was her loyalty. She is the type of person anyone would want in their corner. When her best friend Cross is in a motorcycle accident and no one is there to pick up the bills, Lizzy decides to sell her v-card in order to get the money. This leads her to Love Inc. that is owned by Marchant, Hunter's best friend. She strikes up a deal with him to help her sell her v-card under the alias Scarlett. They help teach her how to be sultry and sexy. When Hunter, who has harbored feelings for Lizzy for awhile now, gets wind of what she is doing, he throws his name into the hat.

What happens next is hot and heavy. You want so much for these two to get together. I don't believe any of this would happen without Lizzy's ability to fight for what she believes in and who she believes in. Hunter's attempts to keep her at a distance are done in vain. Lizzy is one tough bitch and I loved her. I am looking forward to reading the other two books in the series to see what happens next.
