CHARLIE DEAD and the SoCalled Zombie Apocalypse eBook Geoff Camphire
This is an entertaining little tome. As a longtime resident of the DC area, it was even more fun to envision and recall the various metro stops and "haunts" (no pun intended) as I read the book.Camphire's style is breezy, familiar and clever. While zombies are an enduring theme in our popular culture, this book brings to me at least a very different perspective: segregation and classism; how fear and ignorance can separate us from our fellow humans; and how a sense of duty can cultivate a strong character. In this vein, Charlie Dead is truly unique. Don't be fooled by the lighthearted tempo; it's our living hearts and biases which can make us uglier and deader inside than any zombie out there.
Once my 12-year-old starts to get interested in zombies I'll be sure to let him start with Charlie Dead.

CHARLIE DEAD and the SoCalled Zombie Apocalypse eBook Geoff Camphire Reviews
This book and the series were impossible to put down. I am not a "Zombie Genre" reader but I was compelled to finish all three of the books within the course of a three week period.
Snarky, sharp and entertaining balanced with a respectable level of action. I highly recommend this series to all.
To the author .... what happens to Charlie now? H-J
Different take on the zombie apocalypse. Zombies are sentient and teenage protagonist has been bitten... Good job of world building for this series targeted at young adults.
Attention YA Librarians Geoff Camphire has written a YA-Lit book with chops. The main character, Charlie, is nicely "fleshed out" as a teen with both smarts and doubts...reflective, yet quick-acting when needed. The overall scenario in which the teen finds himself is unenviable--infected with a zombie virus, and unsure of who his true allies are. The portrayals of friendships are well-crafted, and the adventures well-paced. Along side the adventures, Camphire interweaves some political and cultural themes within this new zombie-world, ranging from the subtle, to the profound to the laugh-out-loud-funny. I can see this being both a great book-discussion book, or a book to generate good discussion in an ethics class. A quick but engaging read that had me reaching for the next in the Charlie-dead series.
True confession-- this was my first foray into the zombie genre. Geoff Camphire delivers a smartly funny, tightly written page turner . He nails both the internal and external voice of his teen characters. Woven into the clever plot are themes that perfectly resonate with today's issues human rights, equal rights, bullying (on micro and macro levels) inclusion vs. exclusion, and how personal choices of kindness, cruelty, standing by or speaking up define our humanity. Perfect for teen book club .Educators take note this YA book would no doubt spark a firestorm of classroom discussion. I've clearly been bitten-- off to read the next one!

This is Lane Hartley...I am Jenni's son. I am fifteen. I really liked the books. I am ruthless when it comes to reviewing books and movies on my favorite subject. This more than held my interest and that is no easy feat. I really liked the books and read them quickly...usually not the case. The storyline is original, which is hard when you are dealing with something so prolific...and I laughed, which again, it takes a lot to make me laugh. I will pass the word on to my friends. Lastly, you have the coolest name, we made my mom prove it was real. I look forward to the third one. Cheers.
This book is so exciting and so different to all of the other zombie books I've read. The characters are fascinating. This book is A great adventure.I can't wait to start the next one.
My daughter (18) read the story and she said it's okay.
I liked the story. We can agree that this story would be okay for a teen. we both agreed the story could use more fleshing out in some part. Esp in the school parts.
